Re: To clarify

My baffles that are 43" tall by 47" wide do not have a satisfactory low level extension, though it sounds very charming still. This is also due to the fact that my Altec drivers has quite low Qts, since they´re designed for BR. I was inspired by this set up: http://members.myactv.net/~je2a3/open.htm .With a high Qts driver such as the PHY-HP: http://www.phy-hp.com/English/Products/KM30_SAG_E.html it is still recommended that a large baffle is used: http://www.phy-hp.com/English/Communication_E/Com_E_Baffle_Plan.html .It seems to be a matter of law of physics... I haven´t heard the Supravox 215-2000, but it seems to be highly regarded. I would also love to test the PHY-HP KM30, but neither of these famous French drivers are distributed in Denmark where I live. I much favour the idea of a one point source driver, especially when the listening room isn´t very large. Much of the charm of the OB´s are in my opinion due to the fact that you don´t have any box coloration or "BR boom" at all, also the rear reflection of the driver when used in OB in a normal size room adds some sort of spaciousness to the soundstage, but it also adds a little "confuseness" compared to a box speaker. Before I had Audio Note ANE speakers with silver edition drivers and huge external crossovers, but I must admit that the OB´sounds more convincing, even with the lack of low output.

Greetings,
Thomas
