checked my Karlson (built by MSI in the 70s) and lo and behold, front shelf is 5 3/4 from port opening and total length is 10 1/2, just as in article you posted for mods to eliminate mid range hump. Port is also 3 1/2". Using with Jensen 610 and currently Altec 604 sometimes augmented with EV T-350.
