Agreed. The 9844's have a smoother bottom end with better extention and less woody quality. The 811 horn is less resonant and also has better extention into the top fq's. I once tried an ev driver on a 511B (I think it was the 1824m) and it was down at least 12dB at 10K, highes were just "not there" for me.A7's need a huge room. Contrary to popular belief, they were originally designed to be used with 35 and 70V transformers and I have never considered them remotely close to hi fi. 70Hz is about all they will do linearally. Voice reproduction, no problem.
