... but a studio monitor is designed for critical listening at fairly close range as opposed to a theater or PA system which is built for large sound support.By the design the studio monitor would be better for stereo applications from it's inception and Tom's input would confirm this.
Not to mention that a cabinet with drivers other than those it was designed for is a crap-shoot at best. The Altec systems were engineered with pretty specific drivers.
