You could use a time delay relay. Coil activated by a built in outlet on amp or preamp or whatever and a set of contacts across the cap that would close after a time period and remove the cap from the circuit. A little out there but not for the guy who don't want no stinking caps in da way!Others need to follow start up and shut down order as damage can occur...and not just to speakers.

P.S. It is safer to keep the cap. Try an oil filled motor run cap. Cheap and might surprise you.
