As the name implies, the 476Be utilizes a 4" beryllium diaphragm with a diamond surround and i.5" throat. It uses the "Coherent Wave" phase plug geometry from the 2450 to ensure that the output is in phase even at the 20khz limit of its bandwidht. Everest uses a super tweeter to provide ultrasonic extension that is pretty much required for any high end speaker sold into Japan. The designer prefers to disconnect that device since the 476Be is quite capable of full range response. In my opinion, the midrange response of the Everest is the finest I have heard from a compression driver. The driver is very similar to an electrostatic in its ability to be delicate and nuanced, however with all of the power and impact of a large format compression driver.
