I bought a 775 from Best buys for $189 and a 222 from Oade Brothers for $250 (open box) for my son. Most posts say they're equal but my son and I don't agree. After breaking them both in 24hrs a day for a week (actually the 775 was broken in a week longer), the 222 has much better bass (it was better right from the start) and sounds a bit better all around. It also loads cd's quieter. I returned the 775. Although the 775 is a fine player, for only another $60 or so more, the 222 offers a 5 year warranty, coax and optical digital outputs, and gold plated RCA's. Unless you're on a tight budget, I'd recommend the 222.
