I probably am wrong -- certainly you can't get the chips used from the Bel Canto literature, and yes, they do upsample to 24/192.I guess my (mis)impression was that any internal DAC chip (nothing to do with the external circuitry or the input) has 2 choices on how it changes digital data to analog. Either it internally does a conversion to DSD and does a simple analog integration with filtering, or it does straight PCM conversion via the electronic equivalent of a resister ladder network. So, I may be wrong -- perhaps the DSD ADC chips need DSD-in (which requires digital processing to produce).
