New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

A rather novel critique...

given the "softness," "velvet curtain," and similar knocks attributed to DSD by critics of SACD. And while I may find traces of "edginess" in the analog-mastered SACD of Walter's reading of Mozart's 40th and in some of the PCM-mastered or -remastered-analog Sony's (e.g., the Szell Schumanns and Rossini Overtures), it isn't there in, for example, the Telarc native-DSD Berlioz, Dukas, or Very Tall Band (perhaps none of these the "some of the Telarcs" you refer to?).

Based on what I hear, I'd attribute edginess to something other than DSD itself...and not necessarily at, near, or above 12KHz. The recording mikes used and their placement, perhaps, or something in the monitoring chain that prompts an "adjustment," or producer/artist preference, or something else? Or something in the listening system's synergy?
