The headphone amp is like any other and hooks directly to the output of the player. The only control it has is a volume knob. Look up reports for the Grado RS 1 and Headphone amp. I assure you there is no fault in any of the equipment used. The biggest source of error is the subjective opinion of the listener which would be me and me is far from perfect. But with over a weekend of listening and previous experiance I stand by that opinion. There is somthing fundamentally wrong with the high frequency performance of DSD. The better sounding SACDs seem to be the Analog and PCM transfers and the Discs with less relative high freq energy such as symphonic music.
