Re: 2-channel SACD vs Trying to Cover All Bases

I discussed the 2-channel vs. multi-channel issue with Ed in some detail, especially as it relates to 2-channel performance (like you, I'm a 2-channel purist of sorts) but he dismissed this. He'll be using his own chip design which he feels is better than anything else available and he seems to feel that there are no tradeoffs. Besides, he says, once you've heard properly recorded DSD multi-channel music (as examplified by DMP's "So Real" Warren Bernhardt project) there is no turning back. I was present at this recording and I'll have to agree that it is exceptional in multi-channel playback, significantly better than in stereo IMO.

But, as we all know, that's not the case with the rest of the DSD stuff available out there.

It'll be interesting to see what he pulls out of the bag!
