DSD was designed to carefully archive old master tapes, so it isn't surprising how good they can sound.
I took a listen to the re-mastered St Pepper's and it had far more detail and silent silence than the original master. But I think this was due to the analog process. But I have heard SACD transfers from AS remasters which was done with your process that were first rate.
SO I guess it really depends upon how many tracks are you handling to the best output.
But I agree with you, with ProTools, and like software, isn't likely.
