As I recall I didn't have to do anything here in the US to get the new price. I was on a monthly subscription and they just renewed at the new price the next month. If I got a small credit it was just a blip on the bank account.
OTOH, when I changed my cable subscription they cut the price in half and I'm still getting credits from them. Our bills have been $0 for months now. I haven't looked to see exactly how that happened either.
When I retired I went through all of our monthly bills, and the cable stuck out as way too much considering how little TV we watch. I had both Qobuz and Tidal and I dropped Tidal, and then Qobuz reduced the price. All this media stuff adds up, and then there are the cell phones...
