I was *so lucky* with the Music Hall when I replaced its op amps with discrete FETs for improved fidelity. :)
The Audio Research DAC8 in the main system uses hand matched JFETs in a zero feedback Class A circuit - just as you find with John Curl's current JC2B preamp. And his first JC-2. And the JC-80. And the Vendetta. And the Blowtorch.
He does, however, use op amps with entry level gear like the P6 preamp/DAC.
