No. What I am saying is that, if you did not have an irrevocable commitment to HATS, you might appreciate that Oppo is improving HDMI output in a way that does not require HATS.

As for why I never paid attention to HATS, the answer is that it was proprietary and is now forgotten by everyone (Sony included) but you.
