RE: what DSD bitrate is SACD?

Yes, SACD is DSD 64. My DAC supports that as well as DSD 128 and 256, plus PCM up to 384k. My PC storage scheme is based on ripped SACDs in DSF format, meaning DSD 64. I have also heard recoded examples at, I think, each sampling frequency higher than 44k. Sampling frequency or format, and the question of DSD vs. PCM are all overrated, in my opinion, though I am not asserting there is no sonic difference. I am just suggesting there are much more important things.

I am definitely a hi rez fan, but ... There are a lot of other considerations for me, other than DSD/PCM, sampling rate, etc. Keeping things in their natively recorded resolution would be an ideal I would strive for. But, other things come into play, like Room Correction, Bass Management and Speaker Distance Correction for Mch. I have also heard recordings at DSD 256 that are quite remarkable, and though less so in some ways when converted to PCM 176, they were preferred overall by DSP involving my subwoofer and DSP room EQ.
