RE: inexpensive small footprint universal player?

That Cambridge looks like a ver good component. If want to check out a new affordable option you might look at the Sony UHP-H1.

I really like mine. It has a fantastic picture and audio sounds very good as well. It can stream all kinds of video and audio.
