Thanks for you feedback. As you might guess, I am trying to fill out my high rez collection with late Haydn Symphonies that are well recorded and have superior sonics. This project was triggered when I completed acquisition of the Haydn London Symphonies (Nos. 93 - 104) with the purchase of the fourth volume of Bruno Weil's excellent traversal on the German label Ars (SACD). Your suggestions have helped me make my selections for other late Haydn. The following are the discs I have just ordered:
1. Dantone's recent SACD release of Haydn's Symphonies Nos. 78 - 81.
2. Ansermet's stereo CD of the Paris Symphonies (Nos. 82 -87).
The Japanese Rattle/BPO SACD set containing Symphonies Nos. 88 - 92 is expensive. Do you have an opinion as to the quality of the performance and more particularly the sonics?
Thanks again.
Pete
