I own an Esoterix UX-3Pi which is used solely for audio. I love it. Prior to owning the Esoteric, I owned an Electrocompaniet EMC-1UP, Modwright Sony 999ES, APL Philips SACD1000, Exemplar Denon 3910, and APL Denon 3910. I got tired of the constant modification upgrade. It was like being pushed by a drug dealer to buy purer cocaine.The Esoteric UX-3Pi is the player that has made me stop looking for disc payers.
I've sent it to Esoteric twice for repair. The first time, it starred skipping on SACD discs, and Esoteric installed a new laser assembly and had it back to me in a week. The second time, the player again began skipping on SACD disc. This time, it was out of warranty, but Esoteric replaced the laser assembly again for free. Incredible.
It sounds phenomenal. Transparent without being sterile. Faithful to what's on the disc. Best of all, it's truly universal...plays all formats.
I won't claim it's the best, or that it will be what you're seeking, but it's been wonderful in my system, and I recommend it without hesitation.
