Disbeliever, my room is hardly unusual, and no, my sound was not awful at all. It was quite good (Grammy winning engineer loved the sound, even before the major acoustic makeover), and has got nothing but better. I built the room to golden ratio specs. What is so darn unusual that you would assume my sound was awful??

Throw rugs can make a little difference but so many audiophiles do not realize the effects their room has on their system, and do not do anything close to enough to treat them (often due to WAF or other real world constraints of course).
