The SACD format is not "dead and buried".
Sales may be slowing, but as long as audiophiles have SACD players and appreciate their sound over redbook CDs and other digital formats, they will never die.
The best comparison I can think of would be reel to reels. A small niche much appreciated amongst the analog fans who want the ultimate in sound. Like SACDs compared to CDs, reel to reels never became as popular as record players. But they're still around because they provide audiophiles with an option for outstanding sound. As long as SACDs provides one the best options in digital sound and performances, particular people will continue to listen to them.
