However, the stream is thinning even for classical SACD with some compensation provided by BluRay, particularly in opera and ballet. OTOH, eventually, all physical media will fade.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I can get delivery of Blu-Ray classical discs (and other categories of Blu-Rays) from Netflix 24 hours after keying in the order on my PC. To me, that's not a great inconvenience and well-worth it to get Opus-Artes discs of operas and ballets with 1080P video and HD surround sound. They also offer on-line downloads of a more limited selection (few classical choices), but I'm not sure they have the same fidelity.

Perhaps SACD's and other physical media will evolve somewhat along the line of vinyl records and turntables, the demise of which were also predicted years ago.
