Not true, this is designed to be also used as a "standalone" recorder/player, editing and other functions are done without the aid of a computer.

I wonder what Allen Wright could do with this (SCD-XA5400ES) player?
If he could bring it close to what he does with the SCD-1, I may consider selling my SCD-1 and getting this, as it would save me some $$ to go with a Korg/computer option, and have a player that is not so "aged".
