RE: DSD playback and Sony Patents

38.223.231.249

But I have worked with and own both DSD and PCM recorders and made discs playable on both DVD-A and now the 5400ES, I do have much more experience than most.

When I say manipulate the files, I'm not referring to changing formats rather spliting tracks, fades in and outs etc. The discs created on the Tascam cannot be played on any other unit but the Tascam or a computer. So you still need to move the data onto a computer in order to create either a DVD-A disc or a DSD disc. The Tascam is a great unit however I bought the Korg simply because it was cheaper and does everything I needed it to do.

Obviously you have a problem with Sony's licensing, I do too but I prefer the sound of DSD recordings to Hi Rez PCM.
