A friend brought his 8260 over about 6 months ago and we conducted a very informal 4 hour shoot-out between these two units. The 2910 more than held its own. We both agreed that it really came down to personal preferences, but he did allow that "the Denon sounds absolutely terrific, in many ways I like it better than my 8260..." I had to agree.I have since replaced the 2910 with a 3910, which I feel to be an even better audio playback device. If I were you, I would defintely buy the 3910 over the 8260. The fact that it can also play back DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, and HDCDs is icing on the cake. I snagged my 3910 off Audiogon for $525 delivered to my door - a fantastic value, IMHO.
