Sorry, Steve A... don't mean to jack your thread...Doc, have you tried a power cord on the Pioneer? I replaced the stock PC with a VH Audio Flavor 3 last week... It's one of the single best upgrades I have ever done... excellent improvements across the board. I am still planning on a redbook-only player, but the new PC has me thinking that I will be able to wait a little longer before I take the plunge... long enough to save more dough for my "off-the-merry-go-round" cd player.
At $140 for 6ft. w/ Furutech gold plugs, it's a great deal.It improved the performance more than any other "tweak" I have tried (although I don't consider cables to be "tweaks" per se).
One very cool thing is how the shielding is done. Shield connected to ground at source (outlet) end only. No ground conductor (the DV-47ai doesn't use it). It seems to be the perfect configuration for digital devices with the two-pole IEC jack. It's very nicely made, too!
Cheers
