...get a Sony XA2000ES....a much more than decent $300 component. Later if you wish add a really great DAC.This is a superb SACD player and a better-than-okay CD player, plus can serve as a good transport (I use it with a Proceed DAC). It won't do DVD-A, but then it is a CD player, not a video player.
I use mine in direct mode, bypassing all digital processing except the basic SACD signal and it is as good/better than any SACD I've heard at a dealers short of the Meitner. Multichannel too, if you want it.
To me, the outstanding bargain in hi-rez players. Use the internet; you'll get a Canadian gray-market unit for about $270.
