Re: What do I need to playback 5 channel SACDs in 5 channel sound?

I have temporarily given up the search for a quality 5 channel preamp. I use the (decent but not outstanding) Krell Showcase as general purpose processor of all things multichannel and digital but feed its Front Left & Right balanced outputs to the ATC SCA2 pre-amp as master stereo controller. Thus only the centre front and the surrounds are direct from the Krell. The sub is fed from the ATC SCA2 single-ended outputs in parallel with the balanced front left/right, in conformance to an industry insider who said it would optimise the bass end for all sources - it has. This is currently giving me my optimum stereo / multichannel. I have worked out the point of unity gain on the ATC by measurement so that MCH balance is maintained accurately for SACD, DVD-V and DVD-A. All 'serious' stereo control (SACD-Stereo from the Sony SCD777 VSE L5+, vinyl, FM radio) goes nowhere near the Krell.
