Re: Forgotten SA-CD's

Thanks for the mention of Monk "5 by 5". It's been a while since I pulled that one out. That also brought to mind "Solo Monk"

Others include:

1) Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers "Key Stone 3"
This is a real treasure. I see where 10 of 10 recommend this disc at SA-CD.net

2) Tony Williams Trio "Young at Heart"
This was the very first DSD/SACD recording-1997 and Tony Williams' last disc before his unexpected death in San Francisco following what was thought to be routine surgery.

3) Handel "Royal Fireworks Music" and "The Water Music" (Suite) with the English Chamber Orchestra. This is on the Bach Guild Label and produced by Vanguard Classics.

4) The Oskarshamn Ensemble on Opus 3. This is a wonderful collection of works for Double Bass and orchestra (mostly string orchestra) including works by Bottesini.

5) Isley Brothers "3+3" on Sony

6) Earth, Wind and Fire, "Gratitude"

Indelibly etched in my memory are concerts of the Isleys and Earth, Wind, and Fire, that I attended. These recordings are quintessential early 70's pre disco soul music.
