I am wondering what sort of quality the volume control has if used direct to amps. My first encounter with this was with a Denon DCD 3000 cd player which sounded much better direct to the amp than thru the Adcom preamp I had at the time. I suspect it had a cheap volume control though because I found that using a creek passive was even better. Anyway if the MCD201 has a decent volume control it could be pretty good. I think I will have to go listen at a local dealer.
