The Schubert/Munch/BSO: good sound; nice but it doesn't thrill me.The Strauss/Reiner/CSO: in line with the rest; one of the Strauss to have.
The Falla/Reiner/Price: Spain in Windy City; the sound is good; there is better De Falla around by now, but the singer is a Singer.
The Bream: immaculate playing from one of the masters of the instrument; the sound perspective is unusual: more or less like sitting in the home and having Bream playing in the patio outside, but I do like it.
The Heifetz/Double Concertos: there is a lot to listen to (a lot of inner voicings both in the Bach and the Mozart that you often miss even when reading the score); the studio orchestras may not be top-notch, but that adds to the savour (more or less like the orchestras Casals grouped at Marlboro: people not accustomed to playing together for years but damned good playing on the whole).
