According to the the parts guy at the Sony 800 number, the sled motor part is "no longer manufactured"-- apparently consistent with Sony's policy of beginning to withdraw support 7-10 years after date of original manufacture(1999 for the SCD-1). You'll probably keep that transport alive forever given periodic grease/oil lube of transport gears & bearings & deoxit sprayed into body of sled-motor.
