Would love to hear the modded 8001 as I have a stock one. I had a 8260 for about a year and the 8001 is clearly superior to these ears. I use mine exclusively as a source for my standalone headphone rig thru a tube headphone amp. It would be even more interesting to compare your modded 8001 to the Marantz Sa11s1 as the price points are near the same. Cheers!
