Hi Phil,I've just compared the SACD of Sara K Hell or high water to the XRCD version. It was originally recorded in DSD and transferred by JVC to PCM for the XRCD release.
My player, just to throw another variable in the mix, converts DSD to PCM.
I prefer the XRCD over the DSD.
However, Patricia Barbers SACDs are preferrable to the PCM though this again is unfair as they were made by Mobile Fidelity.
I think this just proves, once again, that the format is not the important factor but how it was recorded and mastered.
