Update on the Oppo DV-970HD

New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

I must admit, I wasn't expecting this player to sound any good - it decimates SACD to 88.2/24 and features mediocre quality DACs that are barely better than 16-bit accuracy.
But I must admit, SA-CDs surprisingly quite decent on this player. Resampling artefacts seem to be minimal, so the conversion to PCM is fairly benign.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to support SACD Text and navigating between 2ch and 5.1 tracks is very difficult.
But at the price it's an absolute killer! Just goes to show you don't need to spend a lot of money these days to get a very listenable sound.
