5.1 where possible because classical music *is* surround

I listen in 5.1 whenever the disc carries a surround track. However, my current sources are better on stereo than surround so I occasionally go back to 2-channel for the sake of ultimate clarity (plus of course for CD and LP). I regularly attend live symphony concerts and they are by default surround experiences so, despite endless controversy on this forum, surround ought to be more real, in theory if not in practice.

The best thing I've heard so far is the SFSO/MTT Mahler 7th Symphony which is a very 'in hall' sound, better even than previous releases in this excellent series.
