I had a chance to listen to the P8i a couple months back and thought it was outstanding. Very clean and dynamic without any digital glare.I am not sure that because there are 3 on audiogon right now reflects a trend of problems or even "unhappy" owners. If you look at Esoteric or Accuphase or any of the other expensive players you will see quite a few on audiogon right now. I certainly wish I could afford to try a bunch of these and sell what didn't quite work for my ears.
