Yes, Wand's Berlin Phil is a fine performance, rather Brucknerian in terms of its stress on long-arched string melodic lines, the prominence of the brass, and the rather driving nature of those famous interminable triplets. And the sound is similar to the Karajan era, before the Berlin Philharmonic became Slightly Rattled.The reason I say it might still turn up on SACD is that BMG Japan have already released Wand's BPO Bruckner on SACD, and this month are due to release his Beethoven cycle. The performance of Beethoven 5 & 6 which is coming to SACD dates from 1993, and this Schubert 8 & 9 dates from 1995. The Schubert is stated to have been recorded in 20 bit, so there is value in an SACD issue even if it is only in stereo.
