Re: Schubert's Great C major

"If you want a "truly great" recording of the 9th on SACD, get the Szell recording."

A great deal depends on the listener when it comes to the Schubert's Great C major, with this symphony Schubert broke all records on never ending repetition, with the most musically "correct" interpretations I find myself a bit bored with this work and am continuously checking the clock on the CD player to see just how much more repetition I can tolerate. I find Munch's no nonsense conducting style better suited for this work, more so than most other great conductors, his performance is less boring.
