I asked about using the original box to send it, and the Sony rep only aswered tha "they dont want to be responsible for packaging, so we use UPS to "professionally" pack everything"; so I did not use the original box, but packed it very well.I was fairly well packed on return -- 6 inches large bubble, bubble rap on bottom, 3 inches on sides and 4-5 inches on top. Box only had one piece tap across top and bottom though. If this was a heavier unit like my XA777ES, I don't think this would have been enough.
Not as anal as I was on the shipping to them, but it made it.
