Everything else being equal I prefer DSD over PCM. But I, too, I have moved beyond that debate but for different reasons than many. So, to drop a fly in the ointment, while audiophiles can debate PCM & DSD even on whether they can hear a meaningful difference there is no doubt (no debate) that the multi-channel makes a far more compelling difference (like it or not), even when subtle and even though the listener may not even immediately detect that it is, in fact, multi-channel.It has been my experience that a correctly mastered multi-channel jazz recording (and I would bet that the Chesky recordings are) played on a good set up significantly enhances the quality of the production when compared to the real thing. This can be particularly true for jazz as per my comments a few threads below on Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. And if one does not like the mix listen in stereo.
