The analog inputs are pure analog for stereo and for 5 channels on SACD and DVD-A, EXCEPT that the subwoofer signal gets digitized. On two channel, the analog inputs are split with full range pure analog to L and R and the subwoofer signal getting digitized. I think on 5.1 the subwoofer input gets digitized too, but not the 5 channels. I checked with Rotel on this specifically, and it's in the manual, though my dealer didn't even know and had told me he thought it was all digitized. Ugh - KNOW THY PRODUCTS DEALERS!I love this preamp/processor. Very musical and pure for about $1,000.
