I vote for example number one...In my ideal world all audio-only players would be CD/SACD/DVD-A compatible.
I only know of three companies who are making such a player: Bladelius, Ayre and Electrocompaniet. Many people(like myself) who have their priorities in audio rather than video have a simpler DVD player with DVD-A and a more expensive CD/SACD player.
In my case: I find it rather frustrating when my DVD-A discs are just collecting dust because my Denon DVD-2900 can't do them justice. In fact the CD version played on my Marantz SA-11S1 CD/SACD player sounds better.Sometimes I regret that I didnt get the Bladelius CD/SACD/DVD-A player instead.I got a better deal(used) on the Marantz, but I think the Bladelius is comparable in terms of sound quality.
