Hi Robert--As you know, I'm a Mahler junkie and so had to have this recording, particularly as it has received excellent writeups on the Gustav Mahler Board and elsewhere. I have to say that I was only able to listen to the first movement (I've got so little time for serious listening these days) and came away very UNimpressed. Performance was just so-so for me, and the sonics were nothing special (at least in 2-channel). I didn't feel compelled to listen to the rest of it. The Fischer recording has been my new standard for performance and sound quality ever since it was released last year, and the new one--at least on the basis of the first movement--doesn't come close.Russell
