Re: Sony DVP-NS-Players that have the CXD 9804R Chip in it...

Yes, 775V, 875V and 975V are PCM only with Mch AKM DAC which DSD inputs are grounded. The CXD9804R inside is a re-labeled MediaTek MT1389EE. It is capable of "Pure DSD" but it is set for PCM conversion (88.2/24) allowing for Mch adjustments.

If Mch adjustments are turned OFF, the SCD-CE595/SCD-CE2000ES is a "pure DSD" player.

DVP-NS90/92V manuals are not available yet but I'd assume (being entry level players) they will use the MediaTek MT1389EE single-chip-universal-player as well and will convert to PCM. As far as I know, all current model universal players in the $300 range use the same MediaTek chip and are set to convert DSD to PCM – Pioneer, Yamaha, Sony, Philips, Onkyo, Oppo are some of the examples.

Alex
