New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

Wake me when it plays DVD-a as well as SACD

Hey,

Nothing against SACD, I love it - and I love the EMM stuff. But before I spend 10 grand, I want a machine that handles at least all the major hi-rez formats. And in addition to DVD-a, by now that expectation would include the upcoming Blu-ray and HDVD stuff as well (meaning I'd wait until we see what audio arrives on these mediums and expect them to be integrated into the transport technology shortly thereafter)! I'm not interested in arguing about the reasons why this is not practical or possible. For 500 bucks you can get a decent DVD player that plays both formats and does a pretty good job of it. Although there may be many valid reasons, I can't get my head around the fact that when you spend $9500 more, you get a little better sound but now you can't play half your discs. And you need a completely different (and usually heavily modded) front end to use those.

Yes, there is the unidisk. But the Linn brand is in the doghouse with me at the moment (that's another story).

Forget digital inputs - I want format compatibility first!!!
