SA-CD SURROUND

In the development of SA-CD Surround it was clear that serious recording engineers really wanted to be able to make a seperate surround mix and stereo mix. Even when in some cases the same microphone set up is used, the stereo mix and the surround mix will often have different timings and levels in how the individual microphones are mixed. Down mixing the surround can in some cases seriously degrade the sound in the stereo result. SA-CD provides the possibility to have both the surround mix and the stereo mix on different partitions of the same disk using the same dsd data stream per channel.
The fact that Multichannel sounds great and much better than stereo applies only to playing Multichannel using 5 (or 4 in case of 4 channel recordings) loudspeakers. Apart from the fact that you have an increase in resolution by 2.5, well recorded Multichannel can make use of the acoustical effects in the original acoustic that can never be retained in a stereo recording.
