The US versions of Rudy's Blue Notes and special editions, etc. are highly prized in japan. Ironically (or is it paradoxically?) we prize their SACDS and CDs! I have to agree that they sound different when producing the same titles, but overall on MODERN (last ten years) I prefer the US editions. I'd advise everyone to save money and buy American on recent CDs. However, a big caveat here, during the old, horrible years of CD, the Japanese versions of OJC and Savoy jazz (etc) were magnificent...and relatively cheap. Even by today's standards of SACDs and K2s, they hold up wonderfully. Their Miles and Art Peppers (etc) were absolutely first rate.
