Re: Two Hundred

I’ve had three transport/board assemblies in my SACD-1000, and used to leave it running all the time. This last go-around, a year ago, I removed the metal cover over the laser assembly on the transport itself, and turn the unit off by the remote as soon as my listening session is complete. I’m told the internal metal cover on the transport assembly is for safety reasons, and certainly restricts internal airflow.

My belief is that heat exacerbates the chip problem, and I’ve had no failures since removing the shield, and shutting the unit off between listening sessions. YMMV, and I only use the SACD-1000 as the transport to a EMM DAC.
