The solution is not to ditch EITHER the stereo or multichannel layer. I like having both, and I paid for the technolgy to play both. Besides, if the industry were to get rid of one layer, it would be MC because of the additional production costs and the limited market in relation to stereo. Don't get me wrong though, I am a LONG time quad/surround sound fan, but let's face the market reality. The solution is to get the music publishers to pull their fat heads out of their tight asses and realize that hi-rez is a means to sell more product ... period. I have already paid multiple royalties for most of my hi-rez music anyway, because in most cases I have the Redbook CD and an LP of the same title ... sometimes more than one copy ... so it is just friggin' greed.
As for Beyonce, or whoever he/she/it is ... who gives a rat's ass. If there WAS any new good music releases, it MIGHT be an issue ... but hip-hop and other such crap ... PLEEEEEEEEESE!!! Does the music industry fail to realize that the only "consumers" of this trash are those who don't buy anyway ... they are kids!
